I decided that the green felt washers I made look to fuzzy.... I thought of what might be a better choice and red rosin paper came to mind. It is a medium density paper used in making thin gaskets and was common at the time. It is also compressible enough to make the glass 'happy'.
The dials need pointers. I did not want to risk drilling small holes for the pointers so decided to make this aluminum bracket to do the job. It mounts using the shaft hole.
A strip of cotton cloth saturated in varnish holds the bracket securely to the glass.
